A neighbor recently got a kitten, but sadly, it died after just 7 days. They believed it was because a child let the kitten lick their hand. However, the real issue could be that the kitten was too young. At around 2 months old, kittens are still vulnerable and may not have received vaccinations yet. Without vaccination, they are highly susceptible to deadly viruses like feline parvovirus, which can cause death within a matter of days.
Proper vaccination is essential to prevent fatal infections. Ideally, kittens should be adopted at a minimum age of 3 months, but 4 months is even better to ensure they are healthy and strong. While infections can spread through contact with contaminated hands, sudden death in a young kitten is often due to preventable diseases. Ensuring proper vaccinations and adopting at the right age can make all the difference in a kitten’s survival.
