Most cat food is built around what is convenient to produce. This one is built around what cats actually are.

Cats are obligate carnivores. Their digestive systems, their protein metabolism, their need for moisture in food — all of it points in one direction. Real animal ingredients, minimally processed, as close to a whole-prey diet as a domestic feeding routine can get. That is what BARF means: Biologically Appropriate Raw Food. Not a trend. Not an extreme. A return to nutritional first principles.

The CatSlaves BARF formula was developed from the feeding programme at Bangkok Cats — the world championship cattery founded by Pau & Sun. This is the same formula used across generations of Grand Champions and National Winners. Not as a marketing claim, but as a simple statement of fact: we developed this food to feed our own cats at the highest level of competition, and it has worked.

Now it is available in pack sizes that work for one cat or many, delivered frozen via cold-chain at -15°C to your door.

What is in it — and why each ingredient is there

Chicken & Beef
Two protein sources rather than one gives the formula both palatability and nutritional range. Chicken provides lean, highly digestible muscle protein. Beef adds depth of flavour and a different amino acid profile. Most cats accept a two-protein formula more readily than single-protein raw food, making the transition from commercial diets easier.

Bones
Ground raw bone is the natural source of calcium and phosphorus in a whole-prey diet. Including bone in the formula removes the need for synthetic calcium supplementation and keeps the mineral balance closer to what a cat would obtain from prey.

Offals
Organ meat is the most nutrient-dense component of any whole-prey diet. Liver, kidney, and other offals supply natural vitamin A, B-complex vitamins, iron, and trace minerals in bioavailable form — concentrations that are difficult to replicate with synthetic supplements.

Olive Oil
Added for its role in fat-soluble nutrient delivery and skin and coat support. Olive oil provides monounsaturated fatty acids that complement the animal fat already present in the formula.

Vitamins & Minerals
Supplemented to ensure the formula is nutritionally complete across all life stages. The whole ingredients carry most of the load — supplementation fills any gaps that arise from domestic ingredient sourcing.

Human-grade ingredients throughout
Every ingredient used in this formula meets human-grade quality standards. The same quality you would expect for yourself.

What raw feeding can support

Owners who switch to a raw diet often observe improvements in digestive regularity, stool volume and odour, coat condition, body composition, and general vitality. These are the outcomes that owners in our own cattery observe and that raw-feeding cat owners consistently report.

Cold-chain delivery

The food is frozen at production and delivered at -15°C throughout transit. Once a pack is thawed, it should be used within 24–36 hours and refrigerated, not refrozen. Each 300g pack feeds an average adult cat for approximately one day depending on size, age, and activity level.

Pairs well with

For cats transitioning from kibble to raw, the Kelly & Co Dinner Booster can be mixed into the BARF to increase palatability during the adjustment period. For active cats or those using the CatSlaves Exercise Wheel, the high animal protein content of the BARF formula naturally supports the muscle maintenance that regular movement requires.

Questions & Answers

What is BARF and is it safe for my cat?

BARF stands for Biologically Appropriate Raw Food. It is a feeding approach built around raw animal ingredients — meat, bone, and organ — rather than cooked or heavily processed food. Cats are obligate carnivores, meaning their bodies are specifically designed to digest and thrive on animal protein. Raw feeding aligns with that biology. Safety comes down to ingredient quality and handling. The CatSlaves BARF uses human-grade ingredients, is frozen at production, and is delivered cold-chain at -15°C. Handle it the same way you would handle raw meat for your own kitchen — thaw in the refrigerator, use within 24–36 hours, and do not refreeze.

How do I transition my cat from kibble or wet food to raw?

Most cats need a gradual transition rather than an immediate switch. Start by mixing a small amount of the BARF — perhaps 10–20% — into your cat's existing food. Increase the proportion of raw food over 1–2 weeks as your cat adjusts. Some cats transition quickly, others take longer. Cats that have been on kibble their whole lives may need more time because their digestive enzymes have adapted to processed food. The Kelly & Co Dinner Booster mixed into the raw food can help with palatability during this period — the freeze-dried aroma tends to encourage reluctant cats to investigate new textures.

How much should I feed per day?

A general starting point for adult cats is approximately 2–3% of body weight per day in raw food. For a 4kg cat, that is roughly 80–120g per day, or between a third and half a 300g pack. Kittens need more — around 5–10% of body weight due to their rapid growth rate. Senior cats may need adjustment based on activity level and body condition. These are guidelines, not fixed rules. Monitor your cat's weight and body condition over the first few weeks and adjust accordingly. Your cat's body will tell you more than any formula will.

Why does the formula include bones and offals?

Because a cat eating prey in the wild does not eat only muscle meat. Whole prey provides bone for calcium and phosphorus, organ meat for concentrated micronutrients, and connective tissue for a range of structural proteins. The CatSlaves BARF formula is built on the same logic. Ground raw bone delivers the calcium-phosphorus ratio that supports healthy skeletal development and maintenance. Offals — particularly liver — provide natural vitamin A, B vitamins, and iron at concentrations that synthetic supplements approximate but rarely match. Including these components is not a stylistic choice. It is nutritional logic.

What results can I expect from switching to raw?

The outcomes most commonly reported by raw-feeding cat owners are improvements in stool consistency and volume, reduced stool odour, improved coat condition, leaner body composition, and better overall vitality. These are also the outcomes we observe in our own cattery at Bangkok Cats. We position these as things the diet can support — not outcomes we guarantee, because every cat is different and the transition approach, the cat's age, and its existing health all play a role. Most owners who commit to the transition report visible changes within 4–8 weeks.

Why does the per-pack price decrease with larger orders?

The 1-pack price of ฿120 reflects the cost of producing, freezing, and cold-chain delivering a single pack. As order size increases, the logistics cost per unit decreases and we pass that saving directly to you. At 20 packs, the per-pack price drops to ฿100 — a saving of ฿20 per pack compared to buying individually. For a cat eating one pack per day, a 20-pack covers approximately three weeks of feeding. For multi-cat households, larger orders are the practical choice.

Why should I trust this formula specifically?

Because we eat our own cooking. The CatSlaves BARF formula is the same feeding programme used at Bangkok Cats — the world championship cattery founded by Pau & Sun, with 30 Grand Champions, 7 National Winners, and international titles across the USA and Europe. We did not develop this formula to sell. We developed it to feed our own cats at the highest competitive level. Selling it is simply the result of owners asking what we actually feed. Every ingredient is human-grade. Every batch is frozen at production. Every delivery is cold-chain. That is the standard we apply to our own cats, and it is the standard we apply here.
