The LongWand 100 fixes that at the source. A hundred centimetres of carbon fibre puts your hand outside the frame. All your cat sees is the feather.
Why length changes the way your cat plays
A cat's eye is built to catch movement, not detail. A feather twitching two paces away holds attention that a still object never will. It also explains why your hand ruins the illusion. Your hand does not move like prey. It moves like a person.
Add thirty centimetres and the hunt sequence has room to run. Your cat can stalk, freeze, wait, then cover the ground in one go. Short wands skip straight to the grab, which is the least satisfying part of the whole sequence.
Why carbon fibre and not plastic
Carbon fibre bends under load and returns to straight instantly. Stop moving the rod and the tip keeps going. The feather twitches on for a second or two after your hand has already stopped.
That lag is the point. Real prey does not freeze on command. It stumbles, it twitches, it tries to get away. A rod that carries on moving after you stop gives your cat a moment of hesitation to commit to.

How to get the most out of it
- Drag the feather away from your cat, never towards it. Prey runs away and hides. It does not charge.
- Let the feather disappear behind a chair leg, then let it peek back out. The pause does more work than the movement.
- Stand still and let the rod do the travelling. The length is there so you do not have to chase.
- End every session with a catch. A hunt that never resolves leaves a cat wound up instead of settled.

Is 100 cm too long for a condo?
No. The length is about the distance between your hand and the feather, not the size of your room. In a Bangkok condo you stand in one spot and let the rod cover the floor for you. It collapses down to three sections when you are done.
Will carbon fibre snap?
Carbon fibre is built to flex, so bending is what it is designed for. What kills a wand is weight landing on it: a cat pouncing on the rod itself, or someone standing on it while it is lying on the floor. Collapse it and put it away between sessions and it will last.
Can I replace the feather when it wears out?
Yes. The lure head detaches, so you replace the feather rather than the whole wand. Choose Feather refill from the options on this page. The wand itself stays with you.
Is it safe for kittens and senior cats?
Yes, for both. Change the movement, not the toy. Kittens want fast and erratic. Older cats want slow and low to the ground, with fewer jumps. Keep play off slippery floors so nothing lands badly.
How long should a play session be?
Short and often beats long and rare. Two sessions a day works better for most indoor cats than one long one. Stop while your cat is still interested rather than waiting for it to walk away.
My cat ignores wand toys. Will this one work?
Often the wand is not the problem. The movement is. Cats do not chase things that come towards them, and they lose interest in anything that moves in a straight line at a constant speed. Drag it away, hide it, make it stop and start. A cat that looked bored usually turns out to have been unconvinced.
